2014 EcoDiesel Grand Cherokee. Original Owner. 81k miles. Did all recalls etc.
Would normally get the “Drive at Highway Speeds...” warning and it eventually went away. This morning, a warning came that was “100% full, see dealer...” after having the “Highway Speeds” warning for 4 days but been in nothing but bumper to bumper. The Highway Speeds warning has been more and more prevalent recently, so I’m assuming this is inevitable and just have to get it fixed for real.
I am not a handyman when it comes to cars, so just need the best solve. Take to dealer? Easy reset? Replace filter elsewhere? Now’s NOT a good time to break the bank :/
Other than this, LOVE my Jeep and have had no other problems besides a sticky transmission.

The first thing the dealer is going to do is a "forced regen" to try & clear the soot out of the DPF. If your out of warranty they will charge you a minimum of 1 hour labor.

I bought the AlfaODB app to install on my smartphone & OBDlink MX bluetooth to plug into the diagnostic port from Amazon for about $110.
With this, I have the ability to do my own forced regens & other impressive scan tool capabilities.

If you have an Android smartphone,
download & check out the free trial version of the AlfaOBD app from Google Play Store to check out the capabilities before you buy the real deal.

What are the steps to do the forced regeneration with the AlfaODB tool ? Do you need to drive at highway speeds for 20+ min after re-set ? Is there any danger of voiding the 120K extended warranty given with the Chrysler Diesel Jeep settlement ?

So here's the end of the story and I want to give a shout out to Security Jeep in Amityville NY and their knowledgeable service manager Diana ONeil - They did a forced re-gen and changed the oil and I was on my way in 3 hours. The regen is considered a maintenance item, but under the circumstances with almost all NY businesses closed because of the Corona19 epidemic, I was simply grateful.
