Good day!
Looking for some input from owners of the 2007 or 2008 cherokee CRD.

I have found one recently that I am considering purchasing. I have read all over the Internet great reviews about how amazing these are but the trouble is most professional al reviews are from within the first year of its release. All that is fine and good however I am looking for the long term quality of the vehicle.
Are there any common and potentially costly problems that came up with these vehicles? Not being a mechanic myself but modestly capable with vehicles, are there certain things I could physically see that would indicate current or future issues?
I obviously know to look into carproofs and service records. The person indicates they are the only owner and have run up 143000km on it.
I also need to know about the little sticky PITA things that a new 3.0 gc owner will now have to deal with (I have a 2006 jetta tdi and didn't research all the "special" things, parts, fluids, tools, flashes and others that make it that much harder to do simple tasks in maintaining it)
What are the must do maintenance requirements/intervals?

I’ve loved my 2008. I bought it 2 years old with about 20k miles on it. It now has 102k and has been very reliable. ive replaced glow plugs and a glow plug controller. The scariest issue I had was the swirl motor and it was repaired easily and for only $2 with a resistor.

Man this could be a lengthy post! My wife and I have owned a 2008 3.0L GC for 6 years, bought at 80,000km and now at 240000ks's. All the info you need is very well laid out in a blog by conflicted racer who also posted in these forums as well. I love our GC although it feels a little dated now. I've done most of the mods as detailed by conflictedracer and currently my only wish is for lower rpm/higher fuel efficiency.
