For those that have had some time behind the wheel of a 2015 Grand Cherokee Diesel, what would you like to see in next years model?
I'd be hard-pressed to come up with much. We have the Summit and are pleased with the features, design and fit-finish. I'm not sure what else I'd add to it. They seem to have worked out the glitches in the early '14s. Obviously, reliability is always desirable. I almost always want more power, but that is not an issue for me with this car. My wife, who sits close to the steering wheel, would like smaller side mirrors; they create a blind spot for her. For me, I like the large mirrors. Guess I'm not much help here; maybe lane departure warning. Otherwise, we feel safe and secure with this JGC.

Some sort of washer for the lens on the rear camera. It gets dirty alot. Maybe when the washer/rear wiper is used...a splash of water could hit the lens.
Able to disable the traction control system all the way off for off roading.
Option for different set of outside mirrors for towing a wide trailer. Part of a trailer/towing package?

I drive almost 80 miles a day to work. This was one of the reasons that I wanted a diesel. I also have a farm 900 miles away with a steep gravel drive, I pull a 4800 lb trailer with water tanks up a steep drive; and that's why I wanted a 4X4. To be honest, I didn't expect to get great mileage out of a 4X4 and was EXTREMELY pleased to be seeing 27 MPG around town (very little) and 33 on the highway. No, I'm not lying to you.....my AVERAGE is 32.7. I do drive about 65 and always accelerate slowly....like a grand dad, which I am, in fact. I love the amenities that are in it....light rings around the cup holders. My only complaint, which was probably mandated by the government, is that you cannot search an address or NAV to a phone number when the car is moving. I understand that they don't want the DRIVER doing stuff but hey....what about the passenger typing this stuff in????? But NO, the keyboard is locked out if the car is moving AT ALL...... That is my ONLY complaint. LOVE the Diesel Jeep!!

You can search address while car is moving. Just have to use the "voice" option, rather than manually typing. Press the "Voice" button on steering wheel and say "Navigate to" address

Complete the towing package:
1) make extendable mirrors an option
2) build the brake controller into the jeep electronics.
3) Improve the driver feedback on whether the jeep is ACTUALLY overheating...such as: add the water temperature in digital format, to the vehicle information. Also whatever other ICBD info that is needed to avoid having to add a SCAN II gauge.

Make it possible to use screen mirroring with Samsung phones or a similar capability to display the phone screen on the jeep display. The app store on in Uconnect is never going to have sufficient apps and the navigation information is less useful that what I can get from Google Maps.

Wireless charging, Tow/expandable mirrors, back hatch divided, manual open, regeneration status, EGT (Exhaust gas temperature) option to see the engines actual temps while towing. (1500+ degrees F, and things start to get a little to hot).

I would like 7 seat option. All aluminum body . A lux interior option. Sound system options. More wheel options. Sensors on all 4 doors to open locked truck. Sensors on all 4 doors to lock truck. More off road options.

Update: I've got almost 19,000 miles on it now. Still average 30.6 MPG (4X4) driving mainly between Ft.Lauderdale and Miami. That's almost 80 miles a day. Love the car/truck. Improvements....only ONE....
Everyday there is a wreck or broken down vehicle causing traffic tieups on I95 or the 826 loop around the west side of MIA. This makes it 20-35 miles away. The moment I make MIA Airport my destination while I'm in my driveway a huge "screen covering" POP-UP comes up saying "Traffic event on your route" "Do you want an alternate route? ACCEPT...DECLINE. Since there are only TWO ways to get to Miami I push DECLINE. LESS that 1 minute later the SAME POP-UP appears covering my screen....same question and this STAYS there until I say accept or decline. Over and over and over. The only reason I bother to activate the route is to get a close ETA of my arrival (yes, I should KNOW by now) and to see any "yellow" or "RED" on my route so I could take a side road or the "other" highway.
THIS issue is the only thing that I don't like and it REALLY bugs me.....over and over and over........... (can you tell that this ia an issue for me?)
There are many cool things not usually used in Florida; seat heat hi-low, STEERING WHEEL heat, side mirror heat for fog etc. I put 20" Summit wheels on my car and it corners better and put it about 1.5" higher (Bridgestone duelers)
Oh yes, just thought of one other request....The roof has imbedded "TRACKS" for crossing RAILS to go in IF you got them. So IF you wanted to use a roof rack you have to see a pair of high, ugly crossing rails that cause wind noise, lower fuel milage and just ugly all the time. My last TWO SUV's (Explorer and Saturn Outlook) had chrome rails front to rear (not imbedded) making the cross rails unnecessary. These were aligned with the wind so no noise or drag. Since they were chrome they weren't ugly either. Might there be an improvement next year? Overall, my complaints are small and few and my "likes" many.

Just ordered my first Summit Diesel, I can tell you that I have waited since the first diesel year this came out. My current GC Overland is 11 years old and I keep and maintain my vehicles. This will be my 5th Jeep. What is missing is a remote starter with real distance, I agree with the complaints on the NAV input, heck if I have a passanger let them work it. I will try the voice, but voice often requires special words to be recognized.

Living in the north I would like to see undercarriage rust proofing. On my current vehicle every year I sprayed two- three cans of under carriage treatment to counter the rust. It does help.

For the future I would like to see self park and full auto drive. The self park at least to park itself in tight garages and potentially parking lots. Full auto that means the vehicle can auto drive 300 miles at night and I can wake up the next day at my summer place in the driveway. IN 10 years I am going to need that option.

On really ice and snow days the first start clean off, would like to see more power directed towards the front and rear windows, Maybe a turbo heat boost option.

Reinforce the front to better take deer hits. So far I have been lucky missing only by inches.

Looking forward to my new one in 4-8 weeks.....
