Hey everyone, newbie here. My name is Sean and my wife the proud owner of a new gc summit diesel. For the first 4000 miles this thing was flawless and awesome to drive. As a bowtie guy it was hard for me to say yes when she said she loved the gc but the luxury and diesel won me over.

As of Sunday evening two weeks ago, a CEL came on. Went to the dealer the next morning to find out the vehicle needs a new cat converter, I was blown away, but hey its a new engine here so it is what it is. Order is placed that day. As of yesterday parts is still showing national backorder for 6-8 weeks. The check engine light being on won't allow the remote start to work- wife is not happy haha. In the meantime, the DEF needs to be re-filled, dealer only gave me a 1/2 tank at delivery, convo for another day.. Anyways I add the 2.5 gallons of Mopar DEF purchased from the dealer and I checked the date on the jug before I left. let it sit overnight after refill, upon restart the next morning the message display says "Wrong DEF See Dealer" message. I head to the dealer and apparently the vehicle needs software updates for Nox sensors? They perform the update which is now the 4th time the vehicle has been to the dealer and 3rd set of updates to the software since September 10th when we took delivery. CEL turns off and CAT Conv code is not current, dealer says software may have updated everything- DEF sensors seem to be happy no more DEF message. I wake up yesterday morning and the CEL is on again and now need to go back to the dealer on Monday.

Sorry for the rant but is anyone else seeing these kinds of software/cat converter issues on these? As much as I love the car I am starting to get extremely agitated with driving to the dealer every week.

I am happy to have joined the Diesel Jeep Community here and I hope to contribute to the forum in the future, sorry my first post is about issues! Feedback is appreciated!

There are several posts, including mine, on other threads that address these issues. The issue for me was finally resolved with a new converter. That seems to be the solution for others, as well. I'm now enjoying my JGC, finally, as well as the Vette. It does require some patience & persistence. Check dieselexcursion's posts for more complete info.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! I ended up finding and reading some posts with similar issues after I put this thread up and got used to the forum topic locations. Fingers crossed we don't have any further issues after this cat finally comes in.

A TSB released this week for replacing the Cat, checking for DEF injector leaks and DEF contamination. This TSB addresses the pattern of failure that nearly everyone with a CEL and P020EE engine code has had. Make sure your dealer is aware of the TSB. Notice that contaminated DEF is covered under warranty. Some dealers have tried to deny warranty.

Notice that the TSB calls for a replacement Cat part# 68243268-AB and the old Cat part # ends in -AA. That is why there is a huge backorder. The new Cat is a redesigned unit.

Will all the '14's cats be replaced -or just ones from earlier production dates? (Right now with 5400 miles and last round of TSB's mines running great).
This TSB, like all TSBs, is only applied if you are currently experiencing a specific symptom. The only exception are TSBs that are marked RRT (Rapid Response?). These are to be applied to all affected vehicles as a preventative measure. IMO, this SCR system TSB should be an RRT but I didn't see that in the document.

ZO6Vette,

Did you initiate a STAR case? Call 1-800-992-1997 and get one started. I had the same issue - replaced Injector Hardware, CAT Failed, and the STAR Manager had a new SCR Cat (P/N 68243268AB) at my dealer in about 4 days.

I'm guessing the STAR Case Manager can direct ship the CAT from the manufacturing line directly to the Dealer.

Thanks for confirming the replacement CAT Part Number is the redesigned one...

Thank you for the reply and information! At this point we have not started a STAR case, I have left this in the hands of the service director who ordered the part as a 'sor'? I was told on Friday the 21st it would be one week, I have not heard back from the dealer but with the holiday I assumed this would be the case. My wife has not driven the vehicle in over a week and it has just been sitting so tomorrow morning I am going by the dealership and seeing where everything stands.

Also great info on the cat. The original part order 4 weeks ago was a direct replacement, I am glad to see this new order matches the AB TSB part replacement. Fingers crossed this is fixed this week.
