Hey everyone, newbie here. My name is Sean and my wife the proud owner of a new gc summit diesel. For the first 4000 miles this thing was flawless and awesome to drive. As a bowtie guy it was hard for me to say yes when she said she loved the gc but the luxury and diesel won me over.
As of Sunday evening two weeks ago, a CEL came on. Went to the dealer the next morning to find out the vehicle needs a new cat converter, I was blown away, but hey its a new engine here so it is what it is. Order is placed that day. As of yesterday parts is still showing national backorder for 6-8 weeks. The check engine light being on won't allow the remote start to work- wife is not happy haha. In the meantime, the DEF needs to be re-filled, dealer only gave me a 1/2 tank at delivery, convo for another day.. Anyways I add the 2.5 gallons of Mopar DEF purchased from the dealer and I checked the date on the jug before I left. let it sit overnight after refill, upon restart the next morning the message display says "Wrong DEF See Dealer" message. I head to the dealer and apparently the vehicle needs software updates for Nox sensors? They perform the update which is now the 4th time the vehicle has been to the dealer and 3rd set of updates to the software since September 10th when we took delivery. CEL turns off and CAT Conv code is not current, dealer says software may have updated everything- DEF sensors seem to be happy no more DEF message. I wake up yesterday morning and the CEL is on again and now need to go back to the dealer on Monday.
Sorry for the rant but is anyone else seeing these kinds of software/cat converter issues on these? As much as I love the car I am starting to get extremely agitated with driving to the dealer every week.
I am happy to have joined the Diesel Jeep Community here and I hope to contribute to the forum in the future, sorry my first post is about issues! Feedback is appreciated!
