I've had my 2014 in 4 times on check engine light. Showing exhaust system codes. They went through entire DEF system and finally found crystals in or near DEF injector. Replaced injector. Only made it 40 miles before Ck engine is back on. Headed back to dealer this week. Started all this at maybe 3000 miles. 7400 miles now. Thoughts? Others experiencing this?
So interesting to see! Quick story- I bought a 2014 Eco Diesel 2014 GC in May- have had it back 2 previous times for what they said were DEF problems- one time the car went into "limp" mode- both times I was without the car for 2 days. It is now 3 weeks after last time in and the check engine light went on again- just like it has each preceding time. After 2 days they call and tell me they need a certain part- forget what it was. Anyway after 2 more days without hearing from dealer I call again. After placing me on hold for at least 15 minutes the service guy comes back and says he has some bad news!!! Bottom line- I am in need of a part that Chrysler has admitted is defective and it has to be re- manufactured. When asked how long this would be he said, rather matter of factly, at least Jan 15, 2015- After I calmed down a bit, I asked him what am I supposed to do in the mean time- His response, "well, you have a rental we gave you", just kep driving that! The rental, by the way, is a 2012 Jeep Patriot- not the $48,0000 car I bought.
My next step was to call Chrysler Regional office- I had a very nice young girl who tried to appease me but, the bottom line was that she was going to pass it up- line and I will hear from someone this upcoming week. I cant believe this is happening- in hindsight I had some many of my friends telling me I was nuts not only buying the GC but also a diesel at that!
And to you, RobbWood, your story sounds very similar- I am wondering how you made out?- It appears our problems are with the DEF and the end results may be the same although I hope not!
