Check Engine - DEF problems

I am a current '12 Dodge Durango R/T owner. I lemon lawed the first one due to transmission failure at 400 miles.

I am seriously looking at the GC diesel for mpg and towing capacity. The two new GC diesels I've test drove had yellow check engine lights on. Reading this thread tells me I should start to look elsewhere. The only other SUV's that can tow over 5000lbs is the tahoe/Yukon or expedition, but those are too big imo.

Asking all of you with your own GC diesel problems, do you still recommend it?

Dealers in my area (socal) are discounting the '14 GC Diesels. They can't give them away. The gas V6 and V8 '14s are not being offered with the same discount. I guess the word is out. Hopefully the '15 diesels have these problems fixed, as long as Chrysler can get the engines from VM Motori.

I was in the market for a new GC diesel until I heard of all these common Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel problems. My local Jeep dealer service manager told me to stay away.

Unfortunately,Consumer Reports rates Jeep as the #2 most unreliable brand (second to Fiat). They recommend staying away from the GC diesel until thsee issues are fixed.

This car will be driven by my wife with a 6 month old and a three year old. A warranty is nice but is useless when your wife and children are stranded on a dark highway. My current '12 Dodge Durango has had 11 warranty fixes (First one was limon lawed). I've had to take days off of work to make dealer service trips. Who has time for that? I've driven other brands that had zero warranty trips.

Although there are very attractive now, I cannot trust my family's safety in a Chrysler product. Goodluck to all of you.
