Code 20EE

Less than 4000 miles and the check engine light has already come on, gone off and come back on (same code). I took it in for service on Monday, out today and less than 10 miles out, the light is back on. They didn't change any parts, just "Followed diagnostics flow chart..." and did some:

"C S10 Flash software flash for BCM"
"D S10 Flash software flash for PCM"
"E S10 Flash software flash for TCM"

Any clue what this means?

Same problem at 3500 miles and then a few days after check engine incorrect def detected see dealer and then the count down to complete engine shut down back at the dealer system is to new is what I'm told and they have no clue waiting on response from Chrysler get a call from dealer saying the truck needs a new def converter. Had a 2014 Eco v6 gas check eng and recalls electrical shut downs was to much so I traded it for diesel and a whole new set of issues.

New user here. Also have 2014 GC ED with 10,000 miles. Yellow engine light on full time now. Dealer says it needs new intake manifold. Will need to take off top of motor and keep car for 3 days. I am a little concerned about doing this expecting the car will never be the same. Advice or observations welcome.

Mine was back at the dealer this Monday because the MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME on . I had 150 miles before just had a new water pump fitted the other had started to leak .

The light looks like a brake master cylinder icon . Yellow, light ; they checked everything but I think when they hook up to the computer to down load it reboots it !

Chrysler will not refund my cost for the ' repair ' last month where the warning was incorrect DEF although it was the same quality as Mopar ....after market they said
so they had to drain and refill with Mopar DEF. I am now at 11,700 km and have my fingers crossed !

What caused your intake manifold problem ? I would ask at a Diesel Performance company for likely causes .

My 2014 GC eco diesel has had at least 6 check engine episodes. It is currently at the dealer for the 3rd check engine in 35 days. I have 20,000 miles. It was new last November week before Thanksgiving and the def gauge was very active showing the use of Def. Since then the Def gauge is barely indicating any use or depletion of the Def. Dealer says this is normal. The Sept 16 report stated:
Issue: Check engine light on-and engine shutters accelerating between 50-60mph
Report: Stored DTC for P20EE?SCRR Nox catalyst efficiency below threshold Bank 1.
Check for any signs of diesel exhaust fluid leads-None.
Pinch wiring at the NOx sensors. Chec the Def quality and is OK. Test the Def injector and is good. Performed a SCR healing procedure, Clear. DTC performed a stationary desoot procedure then road test vehicle of miles at steady highway speed. The system OK.
Jeep back in the shop on Oct. 7. Hope to pick it tomorrow.

John,

Your GC most likely has 2 different issues going on.

1. Transmission shudder

2. Bad Catalytic Converter

Jeep engineering is working on both issues as they are common issues. The dealer service techs are just going through the troubleshooting chart. A re-designed replacement cat is supposedly in the works. Also, new software for adaptive transmission tuning is coming soon.

I picked up my 2012 JGC Diesel this morning. Dealer has ordered a new catalytic converter. Apparently the demand is so high for them it make take weeks to get one. Engine check light will remain on until the new converter is installed. Planning to take a 1500 mile road trip next week. I will send in a report upon our return.

My 2014 GC diesel started having the MIL light at around 9000mi and the engine was shuttering between 55-60 mph. Been in the shop for the past week. Biparticulate filter plugged and the engine is derated. Mechanic thinks its the dosing injecter Parts on order with no delivery date. Seems to be alot more common than the shop thinks.

Let us know if this flash update you just got changes the way the vehicle performs. The TSB was just released this week and you are the first to get it on here.

I Have 21,000 on mine. During the summer here in AZ the check engine light was on and off a lot.
The message to speed up came up a couple times. The check engine light actually stayed on for 2-3 weeks the last time but no new messages. As soon as it cooled off( under 105) the light went off and it hasn't been back on.
I don't have any of the shuddering or anything else mentioned.
I hope they get this stuff figured out quick I really like this vehicle.

I had the service bulletin you referenced applied and it solved the NOx sensor code issue. But then the O2 sensor code came on during dealer driving 90+ miles. This may sound odd but, they discovered the oil fill cap was not properly tightened down after they did the last oil change. I was skeptical, but have driven over 200 miles and no MIL light. The loose cap may have allowed blow-by which distorted O2 reading.

Unfortunately, goes back in on 1 Dec. MIL on AGAIN. Looks like a new cat is needed as this is 4th time for MIL. Have had codes: P225C, P0171, P0133 and DEF Inj. assy 25-08-04-90 installed.
Thank God I'm retired as I seem to visit the dealership every other week.

Update.
Code P22EE showed up. Injector pulled and flow volume tested - passed.
New CAT ordered; 1-2 week backlog.
There seems to be a seal that the sensor is screwed in to in the cat. dealer's last experience with removing sensor is seal cracked and fell into converter. So they ordered a new seal as well.

2014 Overland Diesel: A bad catalytic converter? I have a check engine light on as well...almost 12k miles. I called the dealer and they said they are back ordered on catalytic converters. Will the new catalytic converter fix the problem if it ever arrives? They have already completed one software upgrade and the light came back on a week later. Does the catalytic converter have a warranty period?

A new Cat will clear a P20EE code (and corresponding CEL light). The Cat is part of the emissions system and has a 80k/8 year Federally mandated warranty.
