Looking for discussion, insight, information, comments etc on the future of the GC Ecodiesel. Trade magazines, and dealers offer little if any info on its future and tend to only speak of future Wrangler and possibly Grand Wagoneer applications. Also, what is the status, if any, on the pending GC Ecodiesel lawsuit? That said, are the 2014-2016 GC oil burners destined to become orphans and soon to be forgotten...your thoughts?

This is the latest update per my Case manager;

1/11/18: CASE UPDATE
On October 13, 2017, defendants (FCA and Bosch) asked the Court to dismiss the Plaintiffs’ claims. We have opposed the motions, and a hearing took place on December 19, 2017 in front of Judge Chen. We should have a decision within a few months of that hearing.

Separately, Fiat Chrysler is seeking EPA approval for a software modification that it says will bring the vehicles into compliance. This is supposed to happen later this year.

I sure hope they keep it as an option. I don't know of many SUVs that can get 30MPG on the highway and tow like my JGC. Having this one is making me lean towards getting a used Ram Eco instead of going big with the Cummins.

Lots of print (misinformed) about the death of diesels in America. A lot is based on erroneous print about German cities banning diesels. They are only imposing bans on pre-2008 diesels in cities because they do not have DEF/DPF equipment; Germany has Level 6 stickers on compliant cars and they can enter any city. Unless you drive a sub-sub compact, almost all full sized cars are diesel and diesel fuel is half the cost of gas.

Is the Diesel on the JGC that much better then the Gas V6 if you are not towing? Just spoke to a dealer here in MA yesterday and found out that I can order a 2018 Overland or Summit with the Diesel option. After reading all the posts and reviews I'm getting a little worried that the Diesel is not going to get "good" mileage after the update.

I'm going to be doing all highway mileage and lots of it, is the diesel "more reliable" then the gas counter part?

Thoughts?

Welcome to the Jeep Diesel forum! Wow, I did not know that Jeep was once again offering the Ecodiesel as an option...great news! I can only speak from my own experience but my 2016 JGC Summit Ecodiesel is amazing on the highway, up to 30+ mpg under certain conditions, and has also been "rock solid" and reliable. Only suggesting that I might add would be to keep the oil changed, DEF full, use quality Diesel fuel and find its sweet spot for highway cruising. Mine likes to run at 71-73 mph for maximum fuel economy. K

Morning, actually I have never received a separate recall notice from Jeep... for anything. As a new Jeep owner I do get a monthly VHR, "vehicle health report" from Jeep as to the vehicles status. This includes recalls, service alerts, reminders, current tire pressure, special discounts etc. I also have the factory 8 year/125K mile warranty. My WK2 was apparently one of the last produced in 2016 and was purchase late October 2016, currently has approximately 9K miles. I did receive a notice from attorneys handling the lawsuit that discussions are continuing, no resolution yet and that FCA wants to provide a software upgrade. Personally I do not want the upgrade until I can be assured that any such enhancement would not alter the performance and fuel economy. Enjoy your new ride! K
