Mine has always behaved this way, without the cruise on also.
Grand Cherokee Diesel goes in auto retard during descents
Some I have happened on the GC Diesel while descending an approximate 6% grade at 45 mph, after touching the brakes a couple of times is that the transmission shifts into lower gears so that the vehicle remains at 45 mph. Though cruise control had not been on in the latest incident, it was as though I had put it on and set it to 45 mph.
Is this some hidden feature?
