I don't think the wrong def msg has anything to do with the def we use I think those problems were a result of the cat being bad I have used multiple kinds and they have always tested within specs when dealer checked and I have had no issues since cat replacement

that'd be the logical way to think but a few people on here have been charged big $$ when the dealership found they didn't use MOPAR branded DEF. Yes, it's completely absurd when they're all pretty much the same with the same ISO 22241 rating, but still makes you wonder.

6k miles since Cat replacement with no issues, but I drive all highway and never even see the regen happen. I always use Mopar DEF and get my diesel from 1 of 2 local places. I have also kept every fuel receipt from day 1 and noted the mileage at fill-up.

Just finished a 1600 mile round trip, so call it 2k since the replacement. The 800 mile run back included towing a Uhaul 6 X12 loaded to the gunnels; figure 5k to 6k lbs total.

No problems so far.

The damn thing tows like a dream (to me anyway; limited experience possibly). This is the heaviest thing I've towed so far. Set the active cruise to 76 to 78, and it never flinched or stumbled. Still got 15 to 16 mpg.

I have 2,000 miles on the replacement cat with no CEL's. But my DEF gauge is very erratic....... it could have been before and I just wasn't paying attention. Also I think my DEF was froze until recently. Emissions has not cleared... the dealer said it needs to be driven with the temp above 50..... Still waiting. I have a blue tooth OBDII and Torque Pro on my droid so I will know when it clears. Here in the Boston area we have had the worst winter in recorded history. It's snowing as I type...... My 4x2 with snow tires and 120 pounds of sand in the back handles all this snow just fine. Not missing the AWD. Still the first cat didn't start acting up until 8500 miles and I think that's avg. for ones that did. So time will tell.

We have had the horror stories with the wrong DEF and P20EE check engine light. The start was in October for the check engine light which the dealer ship did nothing about. The wrong DEF started in NOV when we added 2 GAL of Peak blue and had to pay 3,000 out of our own pocket because they stated it was not to spec when they tested it. Even though we brought the boxes of the Peak which were to spec of which the owners manual quoted. When we contacted Peak they gave us their batch testing it passed. The end result was nothing but a finger pointing game and horrible customer service from Chrysler. Our check engine light came right back on about a day later after we received the vehicle back from the dealership for the same code. When we took the vehicle back for service in Feb 2015 we decided we would only use MOPAR DEF and had them fill the DEF when they did the service, again we stated about the check engine light which they did not fix from before. We scheduled a follow up appointment for the check engine light. Two days later I get the same error message wrong DEF detected. I drove the vehicle right back to the dealership where it took over 34 days to repair and they replaced the CAT this time. They called us told us our vehicle was ready we went down there picked up the jeep drove two miles to drop off the rental, got back in the jeep as soon as we start the jeep the infamous code shows up... Wrong DEF detected... Well that was a fun 2 mile drive right back to the dealership to drop it right back off... It has now been in the shop for over 7 days no answers on what is going on we called Chrysler when we got there and told them we are looking into Lemon Law. We love our Jeep, but this is just getting ridiculous. The vehicle has just over 24,000 miles total.

Just an update. Now 10k miles since Cat replacement along with DEF injector. So far so good, but still all highway miles at 70mph which I think really helps keep the emissions system clean. I'm putting about 28k miles/year on this so I'm hoping it keeps chugging along reliably.

Your post is mindboggling to me and makes my head hurt. I just went through this process and it could not have went smoother (seriously not trying to rub it in). 3 MIL's, 3 trips to the service dept and a new CAT on the 3rd visit...no questions asked, two more GCED's sitting in the service bay for the same thing when I picked mine up. So...did you get your 3 grand back...not sure why you would agree to pay that to begin with as this is a very well documented issue. Any competent service department knows this is a faulty OEM Catalytic Converter and has nothing to do with what type of DEF you are using. The fact that they tested it tells me they have no idea what they are doing...or they are just horrible people, hell...maybe both.

I agree...well documented.
I used this forum and knowledge gained when I moved our service to our current dealer. Very pleased...No more guesswork.

I am just wondering if anyone has had problems since the cat replacement and how many miles since the replacement. I have about 3 thousand and trouble free. hoping that they figured it all out
I have had mine replaced over 3000miles ago and no issues. However, we have a potential issue with DEF freezing in the tank. Since my truck was in the garage for 3,5 weeks ( over some pretty cold temp- 30-35C) waiting for the cat, the temperature warmed up and the spring hit. I cannot judge the effectivness of the cat repair until the environment drops to subzero temperatures. Hopefully it will be positive.

Been around 5k miles since my Cat replacement and just today the shop says the injector has crystals. I don't know if this will lead down the same path as before with the Cat being replaced? Only had the dealer fill my DEF.
