I purchased and added Walmart DEF Peak BlueDEF to my tank and am now getting the warning "incorrect DEF detected contact dealer". I contacted the dealer and asked about this. He said there are 3 types of DEF, clear, blue and some other color which I can't recall ;-) and he said I needed the clear. I asked how I was to know this since we were never told and he stated it was in the manual. Looked in the manual and all it talks about is this warning and that the engine will idle down after 50 miles. The service manager said I would be ok to wait until my service appointment and that it would just work it's way through. We live 75 miles from the dealership and have 3 weeks before my service appt. Has anyone else used the Peak Blue DEF and experienced any problems? So frustrated that this is some sort of secret menu item like IN and OUT burgers!

In and Out Burgers has a secret menu? But no, I use Peak Blue DEF all the time and never had a problem. Have you had the Catalytic Converter replacement done yet? Do you have a 2014 or 2015 GC? btw, it sounds like your dealer doesn't know s__t.

Have not had the catalytic converter replaced, was that a recall item? It is a 2014 GC, we took it to the dealer today and of course the message did not show up but the engine light is on. They didn't have time to look at it although the salesman had told us to bring it in. :mad:No one in service had any knowledge of this type of message even when I showed it to them on page 148 of the manual. They agreed that Walmart DEF was fine and they couldn't figure out who I had talked to on the phone. Guess I will have to wait until it is in for servicing in 3 weeks. I think you are right, this dealer doesn't know s__t. Thanks for the reply.

With that particular error message, you probably aren't going to last three weeks before the computer in your car takes it to the next level and informs you to Service the DEF, and that the motor will NOT Start in 200 miles. (This is from personal experience, 2X, just got the car back last week.)

There is a RRT bulletin out now, published around Sept 24, that compels the dealer to replace your SCR (Catalyst.). That, plus flashing PCM software, plus driving it for enough miles to let the computer observe the DEF problem isn't present any more seems to cure it. I will let you know on Wed because I am driving a thousand miles and if I make it without incident then it means they likely got it fixed.

Bottom line, if you get the Service DEF message don't ignore it and don't wait until there are no miles left on the countdown to drop it off because the mechanic may need to put some miles on it when it's being repaired.

Following up on my last post. The good news is that I did successfully drive for over 2k miles last week without incident. It looks like the RRT procedure plus a couple hundred miles that the mechanic put on the car cleared up my DEF errors.

Fingers crossed for you, hoping you have the same experience.

Terrible to see this. Again the tolerances of these jeeps seems to be hit or miss depending on who you ask. That being said we use the truck stop DEF dispenser (blueDef) and we have not had any issues at all. After spending 24 hours on this site it makes me wonder how much longer my lucky streak can continue.

Most dealers here in NM with respect to the service dept don't carry anything for the diesel jeeps yet because of how few there are out here....they have gotten better now but still come on folks, they sell this product and do not have much in the way of supporting them once they are sold.

Ok tangent rant over
