Hi,

I thought an introductions thread can help locate other local forum members. Can each of us provide our location and vehicle in our introductions?

Me, San Francisco Bay Area, just south of San Francisco, on the peninsula.

I've been looking at and reading about the Grand Cherokee Diesel for over a year, since December 2012. Am very close to buying. Yes I take my time with this decision, and Jeep delayed the ECODiesel's delivery to showrooms. This would be my first Jeep, although I'm a 13-year USMC veteran and drove the Jeeps and HummVees when I was in.

I'm looking forward to learning and sharing here, and after buying I'm looking forward to playing with my new Jeep and meeting other forum members as this place grows.

Thanks,

I'm up in Oregon, just purchased a Limited last weekend and loving the fuel economy and power. If I can keep it out of my wife's hands, she loves it, I'll be racking up the miles using this for work about 3-4k per month. So I'm hoping for trouble free miles. Eventually will be installing a leveling kit and winch from Rocky-road.

Have you purchased your jeep yet?

I did!

One week after my post my wife and I needed to do a 1,200-mile weekend quick trip. She found a rental agency and we rented an Overland V-6. We Loved It. Comfortable, quiet, and we took it on an offroad area with marked trails - very competent.

One week later, we bought ours. Diesel, of course. And we love it. We've had it two months. I'm lining up the gear and armor ideas. Going easy at first, just a set of mud flaps which should arrive next week. A winch, well that is further down the list.

But isn't it a great rig???

Hey just got our limited 4x4 this week, we are located in Mammoth lakes, CA. Eastern Sierra mountains. It's the wife's daily driver and family mover. Once we get our issues with it resolved we plan on putting a few things on it. Probably won't due much off roading(at least till the warranty is up. We have a 97 land cruiser 80 for that ;):D. I really hope that this forum takes off and grows. Ih8 mud (our land cruiser forum) is a huge community and amazing resource for that vehicle. And with how awesome these diesel JGCs are. I hope this site can grow to be that for us. Anyway, glad to be here and nice to "meet" you

Hi,

I just thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself and see if there were any other Diesel Jeep enthusiasts located around me.

I purchased a 2015 JGC Summit 4x4 with ecoDiesel last weekend. I live in Southern California (split time between OC and SD).. I had an 05 JGC Limited Hemi 3 vehicles ago and found I missed the off road capability while I owned my 09 and then 11 Acura MDX's. There are several mods I would like to do to my vehicle before I take it out in the bush but I hope to do this soon. Hope to see you all on the trails!

Hey all. Ecodiesel in Newport Beach
New to the jeep world. Have had 4x4s for the last 20 years. 2 Expeditions and an Armada. I really wanted a diesel, but didn't want to go AWD. I found my 2014 limited with only 6k miles. In 10 days I've doubled the mileage of the Armada. Now fingers crossed that the f'ing def issues are avoided, I think I'm in love. Can't wait for real snow in the local mountains

Hello everyone,
I have a 15 Eco and currently live in Utah. I'm active duty military so I'll be taking my Jeep all over the US and hopefully overseas as well.

I live in St. George Utah, and have nearly 20k on my Black 2014 GCLimited w/ Overland pkg. love this vehicle.
Had my CAT replaced @7k, but great since then. Regularly tow a 12x6 trailer to the local RC Airplane club, and tows my Tent Trailer with ease. Owned pickups for 30 years. First time I (not wife) have had SUV for daily driver. No regrets.

new to this forum bought new 2014 limited in November 2013, (traded in my 2004 Rubicon for this, wish I had not got rid of the Rubicon) have put 21,000 miles on the JGC. like the size and mileage, the engine is awesome and should hold up for several hundred thousand miles. although the SCR system on my car sucks - has not worked properly since 10,000 miles. is currently in the shop for the 5th time in two months. Jeep finally decided I was right and now replacing the SCR Cat-Converter, after replacing numerous unrelated parts the last 4 times in the shop. I'm retired from Alaska now traveling around the lower 48 states in our motorhome and tow the JGC. have been all over with the JGC, have not done that much (hard) off road driving with it. have had it in deep snow, mud and sand with absolutely no problems. the air suspension works great. Just wish they could figure out the lag in acceleration from a start position.

New 2015 Jeep Diesel Grand Cherokee owner. Traded my fordF150 for it. But it has starter problems or something. it won't start. I'll inform the group once I find out. I only had it less than 24 hrs. But put 800 miles on it. I drove it back from Colorado to Las vegas towing a trailer.

San Diego! My dad has a hot rod and off road shop. I had a 2002 4x4 4.0 and needed better gas mileage for my 60 mile per day commute. Got the 2014 eco diesel in sept. 2015 and got a killer deal on Labor Day weekend.

Love this jeep in so many ways and hate it in others.

This has been in the shop more than my 12 yr 180,000+mile jeep ever was.

I hope to get a replacement... 4,000 catalytic converter 8,000 miles oil leak and fuel line issues 9,000 loud thumping noise coming from the rear...

Currently it's in the dealership 28 days and counting... I really love jeep but they have to make this right... I don't want to convert to the 4Runner!

Ouch, I hope you got your issues addressed. I had issues with my 2014. In 2 years it had been in to the shop 8 or 9 times totalling 2 months for the P20EE problem. I pursued a lemon law case with Jeep, and they eventually replaced my rig. My wife and I liked the JGC so much so we chose to get another - we now have a 2016 JGC CRD and it runs great.

Good luck to you, SDSU. Did you get the problems fixed?

Hello all, I'm new to the forum. I'm located in the San Francisco/Bay Area-South Peninsula-HMB. I bought a '16 ED GC Limited in August and just love the thing to death!

I had a '06 Hemi GC before that. It dropped a #3 valve seat on start and tanked the whole engine so I traded it in for the diesel and what a contrast in efficiency. Hemi gave me on its best days 17mpg, not even close to the ED. The range is so good I now shop around for the best price per gallon on fuel, something that wasn't really doable with the '06 as it burned it too fast to be of help.

I'm coming up on my first oil/filter change and was wondering what brand is best for the ED? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey everyone, Denver CO here. We use the JGC as the family vehicle mostly. I've got my RAM for off-roading and long trips with the family.
