Is Jeep Still Building The Grand Cherokee Diesel?

I’ve owned my 2014 diesel for 3 years now and it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Does anyone know if they will be building the diesel version again in the future model years? The dealer has no idea and Google searches have led me nowhere.

Well I've heard the new '18 Wrangler is supposed to have a diesel option featured later. And the long anticipated Wrangler Pickup truck which is supposed to come for 2019 is believed to come equipped with a turbodiesel as well.

So as long as Jeep has not abandoned diesel engines entirely - as was the case w/ Mercedes -, it stands to reason that they'll probably eventually reintroduce it at some point to the GC.

IMO, the biggest problem likely remains the stigma in North America. Not an issue for truck owners. But for the targeted family-oriented SUV owners, I'm sure there's a lot of ignorance around it all.

As far as I know it will be launched in the future model. Till then enjoy your jeep with the latest modification and upgrade it.

Jack, what "upgrade" are you recommending? Mine is the 2015 GC and I love it.

Not sure what upgrade Jack is referring to. But, if you like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, a great upgrade is swapping out the head unit with the one that came out on the 2018 and later models.

It's plug and play for MY 2016-2017. MY 2014-2015 need an additional retrofit cable (if you have heated/vented seats/heated steering wheel), which makes it plug and plug and play. Once installed it works flawlessly. No funny business with running external mic, AUX cable or back up camera, etc. It just works as if it were stock.
What years did jeep make a diesel 🚗 Grand Cherokee :unsure:?
