So when we started looking at trading our Rubicon in on a Trailhawk a month or so ago, I knew I wanted rock rails. I knew they could be installed because they could be ordered from the factory that way. Wanting a Diesel limited our selection in the Southeast of in-stock inventory, only 2 within a 1-2 hour drive. We ended up buying one that did not come with rock rails and in my quest to purchase them was told they wouldn't work for 2018, the Mopar site only listed them as applicable for 2013, and then trying to find a dealer that could ship them and for a reasonable amount delivered....wow.
I finally found an online dealer a few states away that got them to me within a week. Mopar failed when counting out hardware, box and hardware bag were intact but I was one M8 bolt short for the door sills.I ended up ordering a comparable bolt from McMaster Carr and submitted the receipt for reimbursement....we'll see how that goes.
Anyhoo, not a bad installation process, just time consuming. Primarily me but with some help from my wife/son at key points, we got it done in a little over 6 hours spread out over two days. The provided instructions are pretty good now compared to the earlier version, but there are some errors so beware.
Thanks to all of the forum members who posted their experiences and lessons learned, that and some other internet video/resources greatly lessened my learning curve installing these
I did assemble some pics and notes to add to the above, hopefully to further help anyone else looking to do this: 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) Rock Rails Installation
