I noticed the dealers in my area have plenty of 2015 3.6L V6 Grand Cherokees and no diesels. I've read that there might be a shortage of diesel engines. Anyone know more about this?

Also, does anyone know if the 2015 will have the DEF problems worked out?

Should I hold of on a purchase of a '14 and get a '15? Some dealers are discounting 14's for almost 8k.
The issues with the '14 are being addressed. You may have a clogged DEF and failed Catalytic converter at ~20k miles. There is a TSB flash for the ECU that addresses these issues and a new replacement Cat design. The 15's are also getting the new Cat.

Other than the new Cat, they are the same as far as we know right now.

Another perspective: we ordered a 2015 JGC with the ED and OAP II 8.5 weeks ago. Ship date on factory status sheet was 11/20. It just move to framing status in the factory within the last couple of days. We ordered the diesel because the full drivetrain changes associated with the OAP II weren't available on vehicles with the V6/VVT. (They drop the rear limited-slip differential and the select drive.) The hemi was just too much of a fuel guzzler to make that leap. I'm hoping now that we didn't jump off the cliff with all of the reported problems with the '14 diesels.

The reason for the delay, by the way, was poorly communicated to the dealership. I would have felt much better had I known that I wasn't being ignored.

I finally took mine in today to address Catalytic Converter issue...... the dealer told me that as of just a few days ago they went to a clear the code and order the converter instead of testing parts, changing out sensors and draining tanks. So in six weeks I'll go back and they will fix it. Until then I will just reset the code with my OBDII meter and keep on trucking. I keep the meter in the door well so its not a problem. I love my JGC and can't think of another vehicle I could afford that would give me as much value.

I was curious and went to Jeep.com and 'built one'- it showed one in stock 229 miles from me but - 'a bunch in transit' so looks like either the motors were being diverted for RAM pickups - or they were making sure 'everything is up to snuff' this time!
