I have a 2014 JGC ED with 16K miles. Last week the fuel pump in the tank died (that will really stop the vehicle), and as were about as far as you can get from home while still in the lower 50, we took it to local dealer. During replacement of the pump, the tank was dropped. When I drove it away from the dealer, there was an odd rattle from the rear-end during early acceleration. I took it back immediately, and the technician told me this:
1) While the tank was out, he noticed a cable connector unplugged.
2) This controls some flap or valve in the emission system that opens and closes during early acceleration.
3) The rattling noise it makes is 'normal'.
4) It should not have been unplugged in the first place.
So, fellow Jeep GC ED lovers, am I being sold a bill of goods here? Do we all have this rather disconcerting rattle during takeoff? After a very few mph, the noise is gone.
Inputs to this question are gratefully received.
