Second time this happened...I've got 850 miles on it and after my first fill up I drove about 15 miles, parked and didn't get back in for a few hours. When I came back, it started right up but I couldn't get out of park. Display actually said I was "Already in Desired Gear".

I shut down, waited a minute and then restarted. I was then able to shift and drive normally, but the check engine light stayed on. The next day the light was still on so when I got home I thought maybe the capless fuel door didn't close all the way so I stuck my finger in it just to try and reset the door. Sure enough, check engine light went off and we're all good.

Now at the last 100 miles of this tank of gas, same thing happens. Start it up, can't shift out of park, check engine light on again...

Anyone dealt with this before?

Same fix as before after posting this. "The old finger in the gas hole" trick...check engine light went off. I'm thinking if it happens again after I fill up this week I might have a faulty fuel door, but I'll have to take it back to the dealer and see.

I can say this being my first Jeep for a month I really love it. I had a fully loaded Nissan Maxima before and needed the extra room in the back for three kids. I went with the Limited Diesel and the only thing I miss from my Maxima was the ventilated seat that's available with the Overaland. One of the best features ever created!

Oh well...I'll keep posting if this occurs again and hopefully someone has had a similar issue.

It is part of Luxury Group II that was mandatory attached to the diesel engine until mid April, so how you don't have it? Since then Chrysler separated them, I assume to lower the cost. All diesels delivered to the dealers in April and beginning of May are probably ordered in February or March and should have it.

Ok, it might be bs but I got the official explanation from "the guy" at my dealership. It has to do with how fast you try to shift from Park after you turn the ignition. If you try to shift before the "system" is initialized, it won't let you shift and throws a code. Why the gas cap / tank pressure error code? No idea. Like I said, there's a strong possibility of bs here. Although I will give the guy high marks for looking me in the eye.

Hello, I just had this happen last night. I also restarted the car and get it in to gear and get home, with the engine light on. This morning the light was still on. After reading your post I poked the fuel door a few times, then started it. The light went off and all is good, I hope. I guess were going to have to watch this one.
Thanks again
