Never owned a Jeep and don't know much about the 3.0L diesel engine. How does it compare to the larger diesel engines in trucks? They seem to hit 250,000+ miles no problem. Is that realistic with these engines too? Any known issues to watch for?

I'm looking at a few of them. Some with as low as 80,000 miles and others with over 150,000 miles.

Just mostly looking for opinions on this engine and it's reliability. I can't find much because all my searches end up with results for the new EcoDiesel engine.

Is the vehicle itself known for longevity?

Thanks

The 3.0 diesel is the same Mercedes diesel used in many Mercedes vehicles and Sprinter trucks. Very good durable engine that will outlast the vehicle. I've got 100k on my 07 Grand Cherokee with no problems and have seen several Sprinters with over 300k and going strong.

Good luck finding a mechanic I can fix these engines. You take a good old boy Jeep mechanic are Dodge truck mechanic and show my Mercedes diesel they don't have a clue. The factory doesn't have a clue. Make sure you have a mechanic that knows all about 3.0 crd diesel 07 and 08 is a Mercedes Benz diesel made in Germany you can't find a good mechanic don't buy that's my opinion my 07 has nothing but problems because there is no mechanics out there that know these engine anyway good luck

240000kms on mine. Has had a few issues that I've learned to fix myself. Look for a blog by conflictedracer. Gives insight into every common issue found in the Benz 3.0L.
