Anyone out there tow anything over 4,000 lbs?

How did grand cherokee handle the weight?

What was avg. mpg while towing.

I towed my 3,000lbs sailboat and trailer round trip from Houston to St. Petersburg, FL. Gas mileage was 19 miles/per gallon of diesel.

We have a 2014 Diesel Grand Cherokee with rear wheel drive. I towed my 3000 lb sailboat on a 1500 lb trailer on a round trip from Houston to St.Petersburg, Fl a year ago February. It is a single axle trailer. No problem with sway. We got 19 MPG towing the trailer at 65-70MPH. JEC

Leaving Houston on Tuesday for 1700 mile trip to Niantic, Ct. I will be towing my 3000# Ensign sailboat on a single axle trailer with my 2014 Jeep Diesel with rear wheel drive. In 2014 we got 19 mpg on a 900 mile trip to St. Petersburg, FL.

I will let you know how we do on this trip.
