Has anyone on here done this?

Just wondering what type of Torx tool they used in order to access the front three bolts on the transmission oil pan. There is a cross member that basically gives a tiny space where the bolts are located. You can't access it with your traditional right angle torx wrench.

Is there a special type of tool???

Thanks for posting that. He does a good job at explaining the fill procedure. Looks like he just skipped replacing the pan. Which I think is what I'm going to do. Less of a PITA

OK, it's been a while since this thread was active, but I'll give it a shot to avoid duplication on the forum...
I'm past what fluid to use in my Mercedes tranny, but...
A little help with my 2008 JGC diesel (Mercedes).
Changing my fluid and filter. Got TorquePro to give me what looks like a valid trans temp (equals coolant temp in P or N, different and seemingly valid lower temp in R or D). BUT, only using the Jeep 2012+ predefined option mentioned above. (Neither older Jeep option (as-is or with changes suggested in other posts) nor 'method 3' work.)
OK... that's odd, yet, there's more.
My build sheet says I have a W5J400 tranny, but I'm not certain that's the case. It's definitely a Mercedes 722.6, per the id etching on the side, a '722678 0'. But given the only working trans temp code, and odd things showing up with my swapped-out fluid levels, I'm thinking it could be a replacement W5A580. That would be fine, but the trans fluid level chart for those two transmissions are significantly different. That I find odd too, since they're both 722.6 transmissions with just a different torque converter and maybe other differences inside (stall converter (?), and ?). Anyway, given the differences in fluid levels per the charts, if I assume W5J400 and it's actually a W5A580, my fluid will be too low. And if I assume the other way, my fluid will be too high. Either will likely lead to significant issues.
Can anyone tell me: 1. Is a 722678 0' is a W5J400 or a W5A580? 2. Why are the two 722.6 trans fluid charts different?

What year is your jeep? Is it a wk2? If so it's the zf transmission

Well... as I said, it's a 2008, so a WK.

After more info searching, I have determined the tranny is a W5J400.
Still wondering why different 722.6 NAG1's call for different fluid levels.
